Keyboard Shortcuts: Using Your Control or Command Key

On a PC, the control key (Ctrl) is in the lower left corner of the keyboard:

On a Mac, the control key is called the “Command” key:

On a PC, use CTRL plus the letter. On a Mac, use the Command key plus the letter.

ctrl + A = select all

ctrl + C = copy

ctrl + X = remove text

ctrl + Z = undo the last thing you did

ctrl + V = enter the text that you just copied or removed

ctrl + I = put the selected text in italics

ctrl + U = underline the selected text

ctrl + B = put the selected text in bold face

ctrl + F = Find. A box will pop up; type in the text that you are looking for (this is very useful).

ctrl + S = Save. It’s a good idea to save from time to time as you work in a document.

ctrl + P = Print
